Established by Treasured Lives, The Treasured House will be the first crisis house in South Dakota for survivors of sex trafficking and CSE (commercial sexual exploitation).
Currently, there are no temporary shelters that specialize in assisting survivors of sex trafficking in the state or the surrounding area. As a result, victims often end up in domestic violence shelters that are
not equipped to deal with the complex trauma of sex trafficking. Without a safe place to stay, victims are at high risk for returning to their traffickers. The Treasured House provides a safe haven, giving hope
to those who enter. Here, the healing process begins. Some of the topics we will go through will be very tough while others will be fun or even amusing.
It’s important to remember that no one person’s healing walk will be identical to another’s. However, you will find that it is the support and acceptance of one another that will help you on this journey. This
group is for survivors of any form of sexual trauma.
As the first survivor-run sex trafficking organization in South Dakota, we recognize the importance in victims working with those that have experiences like theirs, and that have gone on to live healthy,
productive lives. Often, survivors have not met other survivors, and doing so can be healing in and of itself.
